Conrad begins to write her letters and packages (with one of them including Junior Mint), and begs Belly to Write back. Jeremiah states that only having part of her heart isn't enough, so he breaks the marriage off.īelly ends up being Annika's roommate studying in Spain instead of moving in with Jeremiah. But, she also claims that she chooses Jeremiah and doesn't want to be with Conrad, although she still partly loves him. He then asks Belly if she still loves Conrad, and she hesitantly says that she does, and always will. When Conrad finally finds him, Jeremiah disowns him as his brother. He's infuriated and takes off right before the wedding. Later on, Belly decides to tell Jeremiah what Conrad said to her. Belly claims that he is too late, and that there is nothing he can do. She accepts it and decides to leave, but as she starts to walk away, Conrad outright says that he still loves her.
After she reveals to him that she does know, she and Conrad get into a fight, where Conrad says that he doesn't even feel like he knows her anymore.
At the end of the novel, Conrad finds out and decides to tell Belly that Jeremiah (clearly not knowing that she already knew). It was his way of proving to her that he truly loved her. In the last book, Jeremiah proposes to Belly after she finds out that he cheated on her.
